Eaves and uprights and old stairs aslope
Rise to the status of a destination
To raise indigenous prospects in the hope —
Escape is better and escarpment best —
From native latitude and inclination,
Some idyll can be fashioned, some idol blessed;
And up stone flights new ardor can be wrested,
As out of the rock, worn blunt, blind fingers grope,
From flint to fire to conflagration.
