Dual Use

The predators’ ships move out into the light —
Ribs into frames, forearms into mainsails;
Barbs and filaments strengthen and enlace till
Feathers are for warmth, for hunting down, for flight;
When did they form the attributes of angels?

Rivalry never finishes in a draw;
Moment-to-moment to live is an asymmetry;
Seize, outrun, hide, lie in wait, and gnaw:
All in good time the stratagems of divinity.

Mainsail – (Pronounced MAIN-sel) A sailing ship’s principal sail.
